November 2005

"Good-Bye My Lads?" 

With a heavy the good ship Springer is heading into indefinite dry-dock. Drum-merchant Smith is off exploring the Seven Seas for an indefinite period and as such the band is on indefinite hold. Fear not as there is one last shin-dig occurring in December and some recording to be done before things wind-down..

"Becalmed?" 

Yes, the band are still alive. Thanks to the miracle of modern technology the web-site is now fixed and updated. New material is still coming together nicely but not quite enough to begin recording the next album yet. A few gigs coming up in the Autumn too.

"New Arrivals" 

The band are currently in the midst of writing some new material and are currently the doting Dads of several new tunes. Whilst we're on the subject join us in welcoming to the world Finn Parry.

"Shore Leave" 

The band are currently in the process of writing new material, considering some more recording and looking at gigs for 2005. In the meantime the final gigs of 2004 are this month.

Do not pay over £10 for a copy - any shop trying to charge you this much is ripping you off. Look elsewhere or contact us directly.

"Relaunch" 

Due to general demand we will be repressing and relaunching "Thirty Two Points on a Compass" at the end of May.

 

Keep your eye peeled for gig updates and new press during June.

 

For our friends across the pond there is a possibility we may be playing some dates in the South and on the West Coast at the end of 2004. Discussions are in an early stage at the moment but things are looking promising. More news as and when......

"Public Service Broadcast." 

With the manoeuvrability of a super-tanker we have got some Gigs coming up in the Spring with our new bass player Rob.

 

Included amongst these is the launch night of the compilation album Public Service Broadcast released by Smalltown America. Upon which you'll find not only a Springer song but stacks of other splendid bands.

"Farewell" 

A new year, and as some of you may know soon to be a new bass-player. Yes, the honourable Mr. Andy Bush is setting off for  pastures new. We wish him fond and hearty hurrahs on his journey ahead. 

 

In the meantime we are currently trawling the dinghy pubs and brothels of this town looking to press-gang some unsuspecting sole into the role. More news as it happens.

 

Some rather nice news was the result of the Venue readers poll, in which Ivory Springer won Best Bristol Band and Best Album of 2004. We'd like to take this opportunity to thanks our mothers for voting.

"Set-Sail" 
A big thanks to all who have attended recent
Gigs. We've had a couple of cancellations and some additions so keep checking to make sure. 

 

The press reaction so far has been positive and we are updating the Press Page regularly so you can read the latest reviews. We'll be adding live reviews soon.

 

Lots of stuff to look forward to in 2004. More UK dates. European Tour hopefully in Spring and another record.

"Thirty Two Points on a Compass" (Purr 13) - Mini Album
With the band sabbatical over it's back to business. The official release date is Nov 17th.
Gigs for November/ December are falling into place continually so keep checking. If you want us to come and play near you let us know.

 

Some nice news in advance of the album. Ivory Springer have been getting some play on Radio 1's Steve Lamacq Show.

 

Similarly, press reaction is starting to come in and we have added a Press Page so you can read the latest reviews.

"Logs & Charts" 

There is a new MP3 to download from the songs page. Well, not exactly new. This is a song that was originally on "Docks & Cranes" and won't be on the album so feel free to download it

An updated and historically accurate biography has now been added to the site.

 

The first EP "Docks & Cranes" has now officially sold out. Sorry.


"Current Course" 

The new mini-album will be officially released at the beginning of November. Apologies, for the delay. In the meantime, there will be the occasional gig in September where copies of the album will be available in advance. Visit gigs for updates.

 

A full tour is currently being scheduled for November & December to get out to all of you further afield.
